Each of the following solutions is scalable and can be integrated with existing systems (as a partial or a combined solution)
In order to automate payment transactions and other services that are subject to fees, library cards come with an integrated pay functionality. This enables the customer to autonomously pay late return charges and interlibrary loan fees at the Schomäcker cash register terminal. The terminal provides flexible payment options (prepaid card or cash payment). All payment transactions are automatically logged so that the data can be transferred to the relevant part of the library information system. The Schomäcker card readers allow for cashless payment transactions right at the multi-functional card printer.
Lost keys, forgotten locker numbers or damaged cabinet locks: The management of traditional locker systems is costly and requires a large number of staff. Our contactless, low-maintenenance transponder-based SAFE-O-TRONIC® cabinet locking system automates the use of storage systems. The library cards contain a key function for opening lockers. And also exterior and interior doors can be opened if equipped with a transponder locking system. The contactless technology ensures a wear-free locking system and minimum maintenance costs. The system offers the possibility to limit the time of locker occupancy, to quickly look up a forgotten cabinet number at the information terminal and to map the cabinets individually. If a card is lost, the security can be restored within seconds by means of a simple re-coding process.
Today’s information society requires a considerable amount of flexibility and mobility. This involves keeping the opening hours of public facilities, including libraries, flexible. In order to enable customers to enter the library outside regular business hours, the card can be equipped with a key function. Access can thus be controlled via our VARIfree® offline door locking system. The system offers the appropriate locking variant for all areas of application (e.g. fire doors, emergency exits etc.). VARIfree® ensures simple programming and enables setting temporary access rights. The system can easily be intergrated with existing smart card and RFID solutions.
Schomäcker facilitates the automatic creation and issuance of personalized cards. It is very easy to combine individual functional modules and assign them to different user groups. By importing existing data you can directly insert images and personal data into the card layout and then issue the card. Image data from external systems, such as digital cameras and scanners, are automatically saved to the database.
As an extended service offering libraries today provide the possibility for customers to search the internet and to print electronic publications. As a consequence of the new online offering, the customer can chose whether to issue the printing command from their own notebook computer or from the workstations provided by the library. Our Q PILOT® printing and output management system simplifies the administration and the control of office systems. It keeps track of your printouts and enables to seperate the location for issuing a printing job from the location where the actual printing takes place. In order for the payment to take effect (cashlessly or by cost center) the user must authenticate himself with the respective device. The functionality of all devices registered with Q PILOT® is monitored automatically so that the person responsible will be directly informed in case an incident occurs.
